What you will need:
A wooden dowel (I have two pictured)
A dremel Tool
Different bits
Small handsaw (not pictured)
Sandpaper (not pictured)
Some way to hold the wood still (pictured below)

Bits used for the dremel tool.

^These two rows in the middle are the bits you'll be using for wood, along with the sanding circles(pictured below)
Step One: Cutting the dowel the lengh of the wand.

Then measure out the length you'll need the handle to be

Mark the area off so you dont taiper the handle *I used a sharpie*

Step Two: sand down the wand shaft until you get the desired look.
Once done take sandpaper to the shaft to create a smooth finish.

Step Three: Handle design
This is where you can go crazy! Do anything you want to to make it look any number of ways. I just did a couple of marks to make the wand easier to hold. My friend wanted it really simple and similar to a vampre stake so she could use it for a couple of different costumes that she has.
Step Four: Finishing your wand You can use any type of wood stain or even regular craft paint found at walmart to finish your wand. * A cool tip to make your wand have a slight shine to it without having the odd textured clear coat on top of the wand's wood is using a white candle stub to rub wax on the wand and then get a soft cloth to buff the wax into the wood. It seals the wood and adds a slight shine to the wood.

I saw on youtube one day that a bunch of Harry Potter fans out there have started to make it a hobby to buy wooden dowels ,or just find wood anywhere thy can, and use a dremel tool to make wands. The basic idea sounded pretty dang cool (and a whole lot easier than an exacto knife and sandpaper). So i got out the dremmel and went to work (because it's still going to be a good month or two before my lathe comes in). Here is my finished result.

I dont know how many times I've heard that College is unbeleiveably hard. SUPRISE! It's not -_-* I have 2 times where i have nothing to do for well over an hour and seeing as I dont have a truck just yet i'm stuck on campus until i can get the car from my mom. But everything is going good right now. A whole lot of nothing actually. Lol.

So I'm pretty sure that I've nearly got mom talked into getting me a wood lathe for my birthday. I was looking on the Harbor Freight website and I found a good lathe for an amazing price! So tomorrow were going to go to the store and see if they have them in stock and check everything out.

Going through the cainets in the kitchen the other day I noticed that we had rather long sandwich toothpicks. I had a lump of polymer clay left that was to small to do anything big with, so i started to play around and in the end I had created 5 Minature wands with a 'rock' to hold them upright.

Note: These pictures were taken before I had put a coat of polyurethane on all of the wands as well as their stands. I'll post more pictures of the final products tomorrow.

So I felt it was time to do another random little Harry Potter photoshoot. Borrowed a friends robe (cause mine was washed and turned into a large pile of black and red rags). Dont like the tie that I have at all. It's one of the cheap little costume ones that is more purple than red >.< But other than those two little things i really like the pictures that I took today. Got some in the robes, and some in causal clothes.

Here are the casual clothes pictures
(as if you couldn't tell lol)

I love to read books, yet I can never really seem to get into a book as much as I have these books written by Ms. Cassandra Clare. The detail oriented, action packed, drama injected novels that were written by this brilliant woman's hand have enthralled my mind and kept me turning the page until there were no pages left to turn. I have been a huge fan of Ms. Clare since my friend discovered her fanfic about Harry Potter some years ago. Even back then I realized that writing a story is something not only for the public, but also something for yourself. It is your chance to get the story of your choice out into the public. If I could trade in everything I own to become a Shadowhunter like Clary, Jace, Isabelle, and Alec, I would glady do so. Cassandra Clare has re-ignited the fire in my being that feeds the need to share my creativity and I am glad to announce that I will be working on my own novel and I will be posting Blogs about my successes, setbacks, and struggles through the writing process in the hope that someday I will be able to help an inspireing author like Cassandra Clare has done for me.
